FEAST OF WEEKS  ("Pentecost - meaning 50 days")

Yahweh's Feast Days are always a joy to look for, a pleasure to celebrate and full of blessings for His people when they do so. This day actually has two "titles" that people call it. "Pentecost" is a Greek word which means "fifty days." As you read and study the verses about this day, you will learn that people came to call it "Pentecost" because it is the 50th day after your count begins. The Feast of Weeks is a one-day feast which always occurs on the First Day of the Week (Sunday). Therefore, it is an annual "weekend" Sabbath which we can look forward to enjoying. Below are verses from the New International Version of the Bible that tell more about this time. Please take your Bible and read these stories for yourselves or with your parents. There are other activities listed below, including a quiz on what you learn.

Leviticus 23:15-22: From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to Yahweh. From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to Yahweh. Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams They will be a burnt offering to Yahweh, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings--an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to Yahweh. Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering. The priest is to wave the two lambs before Yahweh as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to Yahweh for the priest. On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.

Revelation 14:1-5: Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to Yahweh and the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths, they are blameless.

Acts 2:1-4: When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. e they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.

You should take time to read more, especially the account in Acts, because that actually depicts more of the events of the day. Remember, the Messiah Yahshua said he would send a Comforter.
