OVERCOMING TEMPTATION
Given at Conclusion of Youth Camp 2013

Happy Sabbath, everybody! During this camp, we talked a lot about how the world is constantly throwing stuff at us and what we can do to overcome it. I’m just going to read a little bit from Matthew 4.
Matthew 4:1-11, Then Yahshua was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, 'If You are the Son of Yahweh, command that these stones become bread.' But He answered and said, 'It is written, "Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh."' Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, 'If You are the Son of Yahweh, throw Yourself down; for it is written, "He will command His angels concerning you" and "on their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone."” Yahshua said to him, 'On the other hand, it is written, "You shall not put Yahweh your Elohim to the test."' Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; and he said to Him, 'All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me.' Then Yahshua said to him, 'Go, Satan! For it is written, "You shall worship Yahweh your Elohim, and serve Him only."' Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.
Now, in verse 9, Satan tells Yahshua that if He falls down and worships him, he will give Him all the kingdoms of the earth. He is in his right to make that offer because John 12:31 says the ruler of this world will be cast out and that is Satan. So, if Yahshua would have yielded to Satan right there, even if He had to die, because the world would have already been His, but He stood with Yahweh’s plan.
Hebrews 4:15-16, For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Anytime you feel like you might be “dipping in the mire” a little bit, you can call out to Yahshua for help because He knows what it is like to have Satan come at Him.
Very early in the Bible, Satan came to Adam and Adam yielded to Satan and “fell into the mire” which brought death into the world. We all know what Yahshua did—He overcame death.
The Bible says there are two results: life and death. You can listen to Satan and you will be related to Adam in death or you can listen to Yahweh and you will be related to Yahshua in life.
